INSPIRING THE HEARTS OF LIKE-MINDED CREATIVES.

“You’re self-employed? Wow— that takes a lot of discipline. You must be really good with time management.” If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard those words, I’d be pretty well off right now. It’s a common assumption that self-employed entrepreneurs are people with one particular personality type— highly-driven masters of multitasking, efficient to the enth, plowing through the mundane to reach their goals, always keeping those creative juices flowing. The movers and shakers. The “Crazy Ones” described in that iconic Apple ad, who, though admittedly crazy, are somehow masters of schedules and productivity. YEAH RIGHT.

I do have some friends like that, and that particular entrepreneurial trait does exist. But not in me. I may be highly driven, but I am not naturally self-disciplined, I can’t multitask to save my life, and those normal, every day “tending” tasks that every business owner deals with actually squelches my own creativity. I desperately need outside supports to keep me going. Time management, in particular, has always been a struggle for me, but over the last few years I’ve found a few tools that help. Get excited, because I'm going to give you the inside scoop!

THE CREATIVE BUSINESS OWNER’S SECRET MENU: Tips for maximizing productivity and getting the most out of your time

Hello, friends! I'm Sarah Bradshaw, a Wedding Photographer by trade and an Entrepreneur by heart. I specialize in classic, city weddings (ballgowns and marble staircases and crystal chandeliers make my heart sing), and have a crush on my city— Washington, DC. I've been in the wedding industry for over 8 years— it can be a strange world to navigate, but I'm happy to call it "home." Though not without its hard days, I really do think I have the best job in the world.

I've gone through many different seasons in business ownership— startup, small town, big city, single, newlywed, and I've just added new mother to that list. Even without changing life seasons there are many challenges that accompany self-employment— it is demanding, time-consuming, and often thankless work, but the past few months I've gained a renewed heart of gratitude for the flexibilities it provides. I'm passionate about intentionality in every area of life, and LOVE spending time and energy helping other entrepreneurs build more focused, intentional application to their own businesses and lives.

I have an adoring husband, a strong marriage (#BuckandSarah), a darling baby girl (#LittleLondonBear), a crazy Goldendoodle (#Gusterdoodle), a quaint old brick house (just outside Washington DC), and love for good coffee. Lastly, I'm a Christian. Not by background or culture or political affiliation, but because Jesus captured my heart when I was a child, and my life is forever changed.
